 Photo Credit: Fiona Younger  Séan describes himself as "a hopelessly confused schizophrenic Gemini". He is originally from the community of Gull Island (which is deceptively NOT an island). Since there is no hospital in Gull Island, Séan was born in Carbonear. At the age of five, his family moved from Gull Island to St. John's. Here he attended high school and remained here to attend Memorial University, majoring in Folklore, and graduating in 1989. While attending university, he met Bob and they formed the Newfoundland Republican Army, which quickly broke up. Then they formed Rankin Street and met up with Darrell there (more on Rankin Street in Bob's bio). This broke up after a few years and Great Big Sea was formed. They started to tour more and more and finally, Séan had to leave his courses for his Masters degree in Folklore, but he hopes to return to the scholarly world sometime. It is well known that Séan is an avid cook and has submitted several recipes to their official website. He also loves to hike and mountain bike, even in fog. His favourite colour is Green.
